Preventing A DUI Car Accident This Weekend

A DUI car accident can impact many people.  The DUI driver will face stiff penalties and possible injuries. The DUI car accident can also severely injure, of even kill, innocent people on the road.  The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is taking steps to reduce DUI car accidents this weekend.

According to, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is working with multiple agencies for a crackdown on impaired driving this weekend. Agencies participating in the one-night detail include the sheriff’s office, Florida Highway Patrol, and the St. Petersburg, Largo, Clearwater, Indian Shores, Gulfport and Tarpon Springs police departments.

“This operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media. “The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate citizens and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.”

The operation is set to take place the night of Friday, March 18, into the early morning hours Saturday.

Although St. Patrick’s Day is on Thursday, it is likely that there will be a number of belated St. Patty’s Day celebrations on Friday and Saturday.  So, don’t get behind the wheels if you consumed too much green beer or Irish Whisky.  If you won’t do it for the safety of others possibly injured in a DUI car accident, do it for the civil and criminal penalties that come along with a DUI.
